Happy Halloween! West Fest & Trunk-Or-Treat

Happy Halloween!  Thank you so much for supporting my efforts.  I have had over 1,000+ pins on Pinterest and over 1,200 visits to my Simple Halloween blog pages Part 1 and Part 2!  WOW - and that is all in the course of week. If you still need Hallween ideas for tonight check out my Simple Halloween blog pages Part 1 and Part 2.

This is basically the same outfits as a a few weeks ago with a different accessories and a different cardigan. I might just keep the spots theme going for the remainder of this week.  Ha - we shall see. View the Taupe Versatility post here.

We had a blast at West Fest (a children's event at my Church last Sunday) and we followed it up with Trunk-Or-Treat.  Here are few pictures of all my family and my daughters friend.

Little Bit - Oscar the Grouch.  I actually bought this outfit for a teenage on amazon for $11 bucks and cut the entire thing down to fit my 22 month old. If you are wondering, YES her hair is sprayed green and even three days later there is still a little green floating around in there.

Boo Bear - Frankie Stein from Monster High.  Boo came to me this year and stated that she did NOT want to be anything cutesie for Halloween.  She wanted to be a vampire or a dead bride.  We found a little compromise with this outfit.

My Hubby is very creative and he NEVER buys a costume for Halloween.  He always seem to come-up with something new and creative year after year.  This year he went as"Mucho Dinero" those are pictures of Robert Dinero taped to his shirt. I was a night owl - easy and simple. Here is a little collage of pictures of a few of the past years for Halloween and yes that is me as the Geisha Girl many, many years ago. Copperhead Road, Dora, Geisha Girl, Jeff Fisher, Middle Aged Super Hero, and Pappa Smurf. Hope you have a happy and safe Halloween.  Trick or Treat!

Little Ladybug

I just realized that I will have two back-to-back polka dot posts.  Oh well, I feel like I have been seeing spots and slightly under the weather so I just wanted to be comfy and this fit the bill. This is another summer dress I picked-up on clearance at Target for about $10.  I layered it over some black leggings and grabbed a cardigan.  Comfy and cozy - even if I do feel a little like a ladybug.

Seeing Spots

Sorry for the absence of a post yesterday,  I was sick - ugh!  I am usually good for two or three stomach bugs a year.  I think it has something to do with tiny little company I keep.  We had a really busy weekend filled with two Fall Carnivals, West Fest, and Trunk-or-Treat at my Church ( I will post pictures from these events on Thursday.) I had a great time, but I started feeling a little crummy Sunday night and then woke-up yesterday with a full fledged stomach bug.  But I am back to the land of the living. This is what I wore to church Sunday.  Now that I see the pictures - this dress might be a little short (even with tights) to wear to church, but I picked it up on the clearance rack at Target for $7.  I pinned a scarf tying tutorial on my Closet Remix Pinterest Board the other day and I have been trying out different ways to tie a scarf. This was one of the options.  I probably haven't work this scarf in 4 or 5 years, but I like it a little more as an infiniti look than a plain old scarf. I know I wear the mess out of this cardigan, but it just seems to be the item this fall that I gravitate towards. My necklace is just doubled up so that it isn't long (I didn't want it caught-up in my scarf), but sits at the base of my neck like a choker. These are some of my first "ankle boots" I am not sure I love the trend, but I think these are growing on me. They don't seem to cut my ankles off like some of the other ankle boot styles I have tried. If you are looking for a tutorial about buying the right ankle boot for your leg/body shape then check out this blog post by Audrey at Putting Me Together.

Vivacious - Pantone Fall Color Link-Up

** I moved this post from Tuesday to Today! (Saturday) so I would be up-to-date on my Pantone Color Challenge. **

I have been running my blog for three weeks today! And since I promised to lay it all out on-the-line... I totally cheated and wore work-out clothes all day long.  Yikes! I even took a quick selfie to parade my guilt (see the final image.)  I know what you are thinking – “That's okay, you took a day off from dressing to impress, enjoy the fact that you still work from home and work all day long in your pajamas. You deserve it!” - am I right? Well, I would love to say that I am wearing work-out clothes because I actually worked out, but that is not exactly the case. The truth is that it was a cold morning and I was tired, cranky, and just didn't want to dress-up. I also have a killer work load for the next weeks and today just screamed MONDAY MORNING. I am proud to say that only half of my real outfit is actually the pajamas I wore last night.  I did manage to pair in with some capri pants and tennis shoes.

I have decided to participate in a link-up with a few other bloggers The Modern Austen and Literate & Stylish. This is my first time and I don't really have any clue what I am doing, but I created a cheat outfit for today and I am going to work up my Pantone Turbulence outfit tonight (see Tuesday's post) so that I am back on track for the Pantone Inspired Fall Color Challenge. Basically, this is a fall pantone challenge - meaning that each day I am challenged to wear a specific "Fall Pantone Color" that has been predetermined from the chart below.  If you want to participate or see the full link then click here for the Pantone-Inspired Fall Color Challenge!

Remix It! Simple Halloween Costumes in Your Closet Part 2 - Cartoon Cuties

I had so much fun with the first Halloween post this week that I decided to do another.  After all I am only going to do this blog for 6 months so there will not be a Halloween post to look forward to for next year.  This is for all of you procrastinators out there.... you know who you are... the ones who still haven't thought about your Halloween costume. Instead of waiting in line at the last minute for an off the rack costume try using your imagination to expand on some the ideas below.

This is a little BONUS and the most comfortable Halloween Couple Costume idea ever.  My hubby and I did this last year.  We were cloudy with a chance of rain.  I made a tutu ( and sewed little puffy clouds on my grey shirt) and it was cute, but not key for this outfit to work.  Just grab your grey sweats, a yellow hair bow, and a spray bottle.  When people ask what you are squirt them with the spray bottle and say, "Cloudy with a Chance of Rain."  Easiest costume ever!

Grab any yellow skirt and a cobalt top.  Throw in some red accessories and a top it off with a pretty little red bow and you are set!

Olive Oil is about as easy as you can get - I refuse to believe you do not that similar items hanging out in your closet RIGHT NOW! You have officially lost your excuse to not participate - now get started on your Olive Oil costume.

Where in the world is Carmen San Diego?  Not real sure, but pair a red dress or jacket with a few yellow accessories and a her hat.  You will be sneaking your way into a spectacular Halloween costume.

This is another really simple idea.  Grab a blue dress, blue socks, and tote around a football. DONE!

Think of this as a modern Minnie.  You can probably steal some ears from your child, but if not you can simply cut out two black circles and attach them to a headband.  Pick out anything black, white, and polka dot - the ears will sell the entire outfit for you.

If you have glasses and some basics, this is another easy one.  Throw everything and shoot for that disheveled look.

My husband actually went a Dora several years ago.  He went the extra mile and painted himself orange and bought a wig, but the basics shown above with do just fine in a pinch.

Acai - Pantone Fall Color Link-Up

Today's color is Acai - or a purple berry color. These pants do not photograph very well, but they are a deep purple color. I have had them for years, but I don't wear them very often and  I don't think I have ever worn them with heels. I typically pair these with boots in the fall and winter, but for a dressier look this works is okay.  Only 8 more day until Halloween! If you need ideas, then check out my post, Remix It! Simple Halloween Costumes in Your Closet.

Carafe - Pantone Fall Color Link-Up

This is my third time to wear this wine colored sweater.  I know the color for today is Carafe and my dress is about as close as I could get to a choclatey brown color. Check out my Remix It! page to see other examples of Remix It! One Piece, Three Ways. I added a Remix It! combo at the bottom of this page.  Love this sweater and if you need Halloween ideas - I have posted Remix It! Remix It! Simple Halloween Costumes in Your Closet Part 1

** UPDATED: Check out Part 2 - Cartoon Cuties is another post with Simple Halloween Costumes in Your Closet.  You now have 20 ideas and 0 excuses to not participate in dressing-up for Halloween.  Enjoy!

You get TWO BLOG POSTS today! I wanted to give you a few options from my own closet that can be remixed into Halloween costumes and all you need is your closet, imagination, and a few key accessories to finish off your look. You have 10 days to check your local store or order a few inexpensive accessories ($2 - $15 range) from Amazon to complete your look. If you enjoyed this post, then please share it!

This one is really easy. I literally have everything I need right in my closet. All you need to do is tie-up your hair in the bandanna and roll-up your sleeves. Voila! Halloween costume complete.

I pretty much have the foundation of this costume in my closet.  The only things I would need to track down are the white gloves, black hat, and fake flowers.

This is one that I will not be rocking anytime soon, but if you got-it and you want to flaunt it the more power to you. Everyone has these basics in their closet - even if you have to cut-off an old pair of jeans to make your little daisy duke jorts.

For this costume you might need to raid your husbands/significant other's closet for the black/dark colored tie. The bowler hat is a must to rock this look and don't forget the mustache.

This costume is simple.  You can pull together pretty much ANYTHING you have in your closet. The key to this costume is the mockingjay pin ($3.49) and your hair needs to be in a braid. Easy peasy, lemon squeezy!

Grab any shirt that is red and white striped and throw on a red beanie.  If you have wide rimmed glasses, a camera, and a cane then that would take this basic costume up a notch.

Wear yellow, grab some Morton Salt, and an umbrella - consider yourself Halloween ready!

Grab your tightest black pants and rock out with teased hair!

I like this costume because the more bling - the better.  Make sure you complete your look with the long black gloves and an up-do for your tresses.

This one is a two-fer with a few simple accessory changes you can take this look from Mime to Burglar.  I would probably have to opt for the burglar simply because of my distaste for face paint, but basically you need a black mask, black gloves, white gloves, or a black hat. You might even want to add a bag stuffed with money for your burglar to sneak around with. ** Check out the updated below where I actually make three different costumes from this one basic outfit!

** Update: Remix It! Halloween - One Outfit, Three Costumes
